Lehman pair in Euro debt play |

30.10.09 Two former top Lehman Brothers bankers, Natalie Howard and James Wright, have set up a new business to invest in the real estate debt markets across EuropE Burfield Capital Partners last week opened an office near London’s Liverpool Street station. Both Howard and Wright worked together at Morgan Stanley before joining Lehman, where they were both executive directors. The two bankers are experienced investors in the property debt, structured finance and securitisation markets. Howard is well known in the real estate finance market and was head of UK property lending at Morgan Stanley before joining Barclays Capital in 2004. She ran the European real estate finance group at Barclays Capital, having set up its CMBS (commercial mortgage-backed securities) platform, Eclipse. She left Barclays to join Lehman in 2007. Burfield is thought to be advising several clients and has around €400m of assets under management already. Property Week revealed this summer (31.07.09) that Howard was advising fund manager Hermes Real Estate on buying distressed debt. These talks are still ongoing.
